Chief Executive Officer

Mr Michael Tidball

Michael Tidball was appointed Chief Executive Officer of LAWASIA in 2013.
Mr Tidball has an impressive background in policy, executive leadership, project management and consultancy across both the public and private sectors. Prior to his work in the legal industry, Mr Tidball served as a Senior Ministerial Advisor to the New South Wales Government, worked as a departmental leader in financial services, and held a Senior Executive role in the Chief Minister’s Department of the Australian Capital Territory Government.
In 2006, Mr Tidball was appointed Chief Executive Officer at the Law Society of New South Wales, the largest legal professional association in Australia. He currently remains in this position, contributing to the strong organisational relations between the Law Society and LAWASIA. Mr Tidball also maintains his roles as a Director of Lawcover Insurance and member of QL’s Board of Management.
LAWASIA continues to benefit from Mr Tidball’s proactive approach to corporate governance, as well as his genuine commitment to advancing the rule of law, international collaboration and the status of the legal profession in the Asia Pacific.

General Manager

Ms Belinda Walker

Belinda Walker began her role as General Manager in 2016, having previously served LAWASIA as a Conference & Events Manager and Executive Officer. Reporting into the CEO, Belinda manages the Secretariat and assists day-to-day operations by supporting the CEO, Executive Committee and Council.
Belinda has significant professional experience  in public policy, international event management, research, stakeholder relations and executive support. Prior to joining LAWASIA, Belinda worked for the Tourism & Transport Forum, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, University College London, Royal Ballet School and Macquarie Bank. She has also held positions within the offices of state and federal Members of Parliament.

Conference & Events Coordinator

Ms Magda Imre

Magda Imre joined the Secretariat in 2014. Magda is responsible for the administration and coordination of LAWASIA’s conferences and other events. She liaises with organising committees and oversees all conference logistics.
Magda has an extensive background in international event management, working with a variety of multinational companies and external stakeholders to provide high-quality professional events. 
With over 12 years of events experience and as a Senior Event Manager, she has successfully delivered more than 30 international business summits across Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific. Magda is dedicated to building strong business networks in the Asia Pacific and to providing relevant professional events to LAWASIA’s cross-cultural membership.

Conference & Events Coordinator

Ms Wendy Loo

Wendy Loo joined LAWASIA in June 2016. Wendy works alongside Magda Imre as a Conference & Events Coordinator, handling the administrative aspects of the LAWASIA conference program and liaising with conference speakers.
Wendy holds a degree in Commerce from the University of New South Wales and, in 2014, received a Reed Exhibitions award for her success in fostering business partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
She has a strong background in exhibition and event management, with wide experience across the manufacturing, mining, cultural and medical industries. Wendy has delivered a number of international conferences, including those in Seattle, Boston, Taiwan, Colombo and Kuala Lumpur.
In addition to her events expertise, Wendy is a fluent speaker of English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkein and Japanese – with intermediate skills in Korean.

Membership, Communications & Administration Officer

Ms Kim Shazell

Kim Shazell has worked as the Membership, Communications & Administration Officer at LAWASIA since February 2016.
In her current role, Kim looks after LAWASIA members by responding to inquiries, assisting with conference registrations, processing membership applications, and managing all membership and subscription accounts.
Kim has broad international experience, with particular ties to the Philippines and Singapore, where she grew-up. Kim has worked in corporate administration and customer service for over 10 years, including roles in Barcelona, London and Sydney. Thanks to her international background, Kim is a native speaker of English with additional proficiencies in Spanish and Filipino.

Section Liaison Officer

Ms Kate Hewson

Kate Hewson joined LAWASIA in January 2017 as the Section Liaison Officer.
In this newly created position, Kate facilitates communication between the various LAWASIA sections and the Secretariat. She is responsible for assisting and reporting on the activities of each section and committee, as well as supporting company administration. Kate writes original content for LAWASIA publications and drafts correspondence on behalf of the organisation.
Kate attended Sydney University, where she completed a Bachelor of Laws/International Studies and a Masters of Health Law. Kate was admitted to practice as a solicitor in December 2014. Prior to joining LAWASIA, she worked in corporate law at an international legal firm, with additional experience in the renewable resources and animal care sectors.
